Dorms at Disney

Well I just signed up for my Roomate Matching/Notification. Which means that while I am living in the Vista View apartments the computer is going to match me up with someone that has my similar qualities in:

Age

Gender

Arrival Date

Now I know Disney is amazing, but I think there should be more things that my roommate and I should have in common then age, sex, and arrival date. But I know Disney knows best.

Twilight the movie

I want to start this post by saying, Yes I am a huge Twilight fan, yes I have read all the books.

So with saying that, I was deeply disappointed in Twilight the movie.
Before you other fans start throwing stones, I want to giving my opinion of the movie.
While sitting in an almost empty, dark theater I felt awkward the entire time while watching the movie, because the scenes and acting through out the movie was awkward. Some of the actors acted like they had performed so many times a certain scene that it was no longer natural. As some of the scenes were not consistent with themes in the book.

Like seriously, fans would Edward take Bella on top of a high tree while she is human?? *SPOILER* He was afraid to let her take on a mountain lion when she was a vampire because of old habits of always trying to protect her from everything.

Santa

For this Christmas Season heres a few thoughts to think about...

THE FOUR STAGES OF LIFE:

1) You believe in Santa Claus.

2) You don't believe in Santa Claus.

3) You are Santa Claus.

4) You look like Santa Claus

TGR

I know I haven't blogged in awhile, but I have been pretty busy starting a Revolution. If you have been living under a rock the past month go here to catch up. If you want to see pic and videos of me personally check out the Road Trip page and follow the bus.

I have been so blessed to be apart of The Gift Revolution. I have been able to meet a lot of new people, step outside my comfort zone, learn to fully rely on God for EVERYTHING, learn to play nice with the other kids, and love completely and totally even when its the hardest thing to do. God has been so apparent to me these past few weeks in the stories and faces of the people that are apart of the Revolution, whether they know it or not.

I have been blessed many times over in these past 3 weeks of being on tour. But I have received 2 Gifts by The Gift Revolution. I have a pastor that loves me so much that he and his wife gave me a card of encouragement with The Gift Revolution card inside and a check to help me with my bills. They know that I have no income and I am having a hard time paying off my bills. They are such a blessing to me everyday. I love having a pastor that fights for me, that cries for me, and the truly loves me. How many people in the world can say that. Pastor Chris and Holly are the best!!
The other day at church I was admiring the new t-shirts that were on sale at the Cooper City campus that were tye-died and super cool, when someone asked me if I would like a t-shirt. I told them that I would but I had no money, and then they said would you like a t-shirt. I was puzzled, and again said Yes I would if I could pay for it. They then said ok, well its $10 for a shirt, when I attempted to protest again they said oh but look and they handed me The Gift Revolution card and said someone paid for you to have a shirt, but I can't tell you who it is. Well i ran to give the person who just gave me the shirt a huge hug. I loved the shirt so much i ran to try it on, and now its my favorite shirt of all the ones I own.

I will be posting pictures next week of whats going on, and in my new shirt.

Keep The Gift Revolution alive by passing a gift of kindness to one person everyday, every little thing counts. Love is the only resource this earth has that will never run out, don't keep it for yourself.

My Beetle

I love my car. I was driving around in my friends neighborhood at 11:45 at nite and an on coming car waved at me to stop. I had no idea who it was, but I figured it was someone who was lost. And it was, and it was someone I knew. I love that my car is so unique that someone far away and in the dark knew that it was my car.
What makes my hippie car unique one might ask, there are tons of beetles around. Oh, my dear friend, my beetle has a Pirates of the Caribbean Mickey on the roof antenna, a blue lay around the rear view mirror, a green frog on the dash board, and a license plate border that says "Smile Jesus Loves You", and that is what makes my hippie Beetle unique.

Junk Mail

We all get junk mail. I know in my family we get it in drones. In a book my Aunt Janet gave me last week it give a cool tip on how to stop all the insentient piles of junk mail that we all get. To reduce your junk mail up to 75% send a letter to:

Mail Preference Service, Direct Marketing Assn.,
11 West 42nd St., PO Box 3861,
N.Y. 10163-3861.

You can recycle all non-glossy junk mail instead of throwing it out. This website will take you off of 10 major junk mail registries. You can save trees and save you hassle with all the garbage other people want you to throw out. You may not see a difference right away, and you may never be junk mail free, but you can do your part in saving the world one piece of junk at a time. Peace!!

Blue Like Jazz the Movie

Yes you read my title right the Donald Miller (My inspirational modern day Christian Hippie) classic "Blue Like Jazz" is going to be made into a movie. They are going to be making a "Across the Universe" type of script by taking the essays the book is composed of and making people who feel like they could be from the book and giving his ideas flesh through the characters. I am so interested in seeing this happen. What are your thoughts??

The Youth of the Nation

Last Sunday I had a garage sale. The las thing I sold as Stacie and I were packing everything up were these two very beaten down bikes. The man I sold them to told me that he was a High School teacher for Plantation and that he was buying the bikes for his students to fix up and give to a local homeless shelter so that people could use the bike to transport them to their future jobs. It moved me so much that I gave him the other two bikes I had that were destined for the dump. He said that there were kids there that could use the two small bikes.

How awesome is that that this man bought broken bike for broken people to fix them. He is definately a revolutionist.

Wiki says that the Latin word for Revolution is "a turn around". Dictionary.net says Revolution means: A total or radical change; as, a revolution in one's circumstances or way of living. I think its time for a Revolution for the people by the people. For the rest of the year I want to dedicate my blog to all things Hippie and Revolutionary. So make sure to come back to see what I post everyday to help the cause of the Revolution, and to turn around this world to a better place to gorify God.

For our Troops

My mom sent me an e-mail that had a link to send our troops a card of thanks for what they are doing. It is so easy to forget that our fellow Americans are still over seas fighting for Freedom. Whether or not you believe they are there for the right reasons they are still there going through Hell on Earth everyday. I think we all should take the 2 mins it takes to pick our a card that a child has drawn to send them encouragement for what they are doing for this country.

Thank you Xerox for allowing us to be able to support our troops.
Lets say thanks

Dear Sister

For all of you that have been on pins and needles like have to see this video here it is. A shout out to Amy who let me know that it was on myspace. Thanks Ams!!!

Ladies and Gentlemen I present to you the greatest video on the face of this Earth (in my opinion)
its "Dear Sister"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Dear Sister"

Bombs and Silver Stars

My dad sent me an e-mail this morning that told a courageous tale about a man who fought in Vietnam and save the life of his platoon, who went into battles without helmets. Single handed he fought of a band of enemy soldiers to near decimation before the rest of his platoon could show up. He fought off gun fire, grenades, and a close encounter with an AK-47. He did all this when he was 19 years old. To read the whole humble and amazing story you can read it here.

I know this blog seems a bit random. But I am sharing this tale with you because this man is my Uncle's brother, and he was awarded a silver star for combat in Vietnam. Most men didn't make it out of that war, and a lot who did were not the same. This man came back and was humble about his heroic deeds.

When I was at Stacie's house yesterday her dad jokingly said to me that she was going to marry a guy would would score lower on the quiz that she had on her blog then she did. Well I was very curious to what this quiz was, and so I took it for fun.

Dear Sister

I love Andy Samburg. If you don't know who he is, he is an actor from SNL who made a bunch of Digital Shorts. Today I was listening to Imogen Heap's Hide and Seek song and it reminded me of the Digital short with Andy and Shia Lebouf. It is hands down the funniest Digital Short Andy has ever made. I looked all over the internet to watch it again, but I couldn't find it anywhere. All the links had been deleted or no longer existed. I even looked on Hulu which has a ton of SNL skits, and nothing. So if anyone out there finds the Dear Sister video, PLEASE let me know.

And so I leave you with another funny Digital short. Its a golden oldie that put Andy on the map of awesomeness.

Taking over the World one Roll at a Time

So the other night I was watching tv and a commercial came on with a family that looked like they were diabolically plotting something evil, and then I come to find out they were playing Monopoly. The new Monopoly has a world board. I couldn't help but think, "That's one way to teach your child to become the Anti-Christ, to take over the world using a board game as a training tool." Ok, so maybe I am over reacting, but the look on the families face was just creepy.

The new game has perks that a Hippie like me can be happy about because they are utilizing renewable energy utilities. But what do you think.

Christian Sister

BEAUTIFUL CHRISTIAN SISTER
by Maya Angelou

A woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ
that a man should have to seek Him first to find her.'
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not shouting 'I'm clean livin''
I'm whispering 'I was lost, Now I'm found and forgiven.'
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.
When I say.. 'I am a Christian' I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible but, God believes I am worth it.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I still feel the sting of pain..
I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name.
When I say... 'I am a Christian' I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner Who received God's good grace, somehow!
Pretty is as Pretty does... but beautiful is just plain beautiful!

National talk like a pirate day

So my friend Ernie Holmes was twittering like mad about how today is talk like a Pirate day, and all the cool stuff to do online to day. So I went to google and searched the word pirate and came across a link to find out what my Pirate name would be quiz, and the results are....

My pirate name is:
Captain Grace Bonney
Even though there's no legal rank on a pirate ship, everyone recognizes you're the one in charge. You can be a little bit unpredictable, but a pirate's life is far from full of certainties, so that fits in pretty well. Arr!
Get your own pirate name from piratequiz.com.
part of the fidius.org network

I have always loved pirates, I can trace my ancestry to a Pirate, and as Captain on Deck for Treasure Island Preschool Ministry I get to dress like a Pirate. So today is so my day to enjoy the Pirateyness of it all!! I hope get to enjoy some random dose of Pirateyness today too, Arrgghhh!!!!

this song is funny, a bit slow, and the pics are kind dumb, but hey its all in today's spirit.

School Books

Today (I hope) I bought my last school book for the semester. I have bought a book for every class but 1. That never happens to me. I usualy only have to buy my Math book and like 1 other book. I only have to buy my own books, because I am blessed with a mother who pays for my tuition. And after the first semester of school I have bought ALL my books online because I can get them redicuously cheaper. Book hunting isn't always fun, but it is always worth the price you pay. I have spent the past 2 weeks shopping and waiting. I am only excited about my Ethics book, because thats the only book I intend on using in my everyday "real" life. Not so much my Understanding Art book, or (sorry IE) my History book. All the classes I am taking this semester I plan on learning from them and taking knowledge beyond the classroom, but I plan on selling/donating all my other books.

Does anyone who has finished college still hold onto their college books?? and do you really ever think, let alone read them any more??

Twilight

So some of you kknow that for the past 5 days I have been OBSESSING over a series of books that start off with the book Twilight. I read Twilight (498pgs) in less than 40 hrs, and then read the next book in the series New Moon (563pgs) in less time. I am a reader by nature, but I am more into these books than I was with Harry Potter.

What are these books about you might ask?? Well its from an average teenage girl's perspective of moving from sunny Phoenix, AZ with her mom to raninyForks, WA with her dad. She starts a new high school where a family of teenage vampires go to school. She ends up being the true love of one the greek god looking vampire boys. They learn to over come their differences, like him not being able to going out into direct sunlight, and the fact that she smells like the most tasty thing he has ever smelled in his 100 year existance.

I know that some of you think I am being cheesy, but really guys its a great read. I love to read, and there aren't many books that I obsess over, and this one is a must read for any woman who wants to be loved to her most deepest core.

Shoes in Church

Normally my dad fwds me e-mail that are political or racist, and I delete them before I really read them. This one, however, really spoke to me. I have a place in my heart for those who are the dimond in the ruff, and this story is truely inspiring.

I showered and shaved

I adjusted my tie. I got there and sat

In a pew just in time. Bowing my head in prayer

As I closed my eyes. I saw the shoe of the man next to me

Touching my own. I sighed.
With plenty of room on either side

I thought, "Why must our soles touch?" It bothered me, his shoe touching mine

But it didn't bother him much. A prayer began: "Our Father"

I thought, "This man with the shoes, has no pride. They're dusty, worn, and scratched. Even worse, there are holes on the side!" "Thank You for blessings," the prayer went on. The shoe man said

A quiet "Amen." I tried to focus on the prayer

But my thoughts were on his shoes again.Aren't we supposed to look our best. When walking through that door? "Well, this certainly isn't it," I thought, Glancing toward the floor.
Then the prayer was ended

And the songs of praise began. The shoe man was certainly loud

Sounding proud as he sang. His voice lifted the rafters

His hands were raised high. The Lord could surely hear. The shoe man's voice from the sky. It was time for the offering

And what I threw in was steep. I watched as the shoe man reached

Into his pockets so deep. I saw what was pulled out

What the shoe man put in. Then I heard a soft "clink" . As when silver hits tin. The sermon really bored me

To tears, and that's no lie. It was the same for the shoe man

For tears fell from his eyes. At the end of the service

As is the custom here. We must greet new visitors, And show them all good cheer. But I felt moved somehow

And wanted to meet the shoe man.
So after the closing prayer

I reached over and shook his hand. He was old and his skin was dark

And his hair was truly a mess. But I thanked him for coming

For being our guest. He said, "My names' Charlie

I'm glad to meet you, my friend." There were tears in his eyes

But he had a large, wide grin. "Let me explain," he said

Wiping tears from his eyes. "I've been coming here for months

And you're the first to say 'Hi.'" "I know that my appearance

Is not like all the rest." "But I really do try

To always look my best." "I always clean and polish my shoes

Before my very long walk." "But by the time I get here

They're dirty and dusty, like chalk." My heart filled with pain

And I swallowed to hide my tears. As he continued to apologize

For daring to sit so near He said, "When I get here

I know I must look a sight." "But I thought if I could touch you..Then maybe our souls might unite." I was silent for a moment

Knowing whatever was said Would pale in comparison

I spoke from my heart, not my head.
"Oh, you've touched me," I said

"And taught me, in part" "That the best of any man

Is what is found in his heart." The rest, I thought,

This shoe man will never know. Like just how thankful I really am

That his dirty old shoe touched my soul You are special to me and you have made a difference in my life.

Compliments

Some of these might not sound like compliments, but to me they moved mountains to hear.

"You look very comfortable" (looking at my bear feet in the church offices) "You look like someone who works with children. Do you?"~ Random Ladies looking for info on Trunk or Treat. The conversation that followed was fun.

"You always looked beautiful to me" ~Tami Waterman. We were talking about me loosing weight. This meant the most because she told me that I looked beautiful even at my heaviest.

"I can really see that you have a passion for this, and your heart is made for Preschool." ~Rebecca, a Preschool Volunteer at Hallendale. My heart cried with joy, and let off a beam of happiness at the same time.

Thank you all for loving me and giving compliments, even if you don't mean it to be a compliment, I/everyone still likes to hear positive reinforcement from time to time. Keep up the love.

There is one more at least that I received this weekend, but my brain is mush. If I can remember what it is I will be sure to edit this post. Peace!!

Fwd e-mail from my mom

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck. One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot
was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water.
At the end of the long walks from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half FUll. For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that
it could only do half of what it had been made to do.
After two years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream. 'I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house. 'The old woman smiled, 'Did you notice that there are flowers
on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side? ''That's because I have
always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side
of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them.
''For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this Beauty to grace the house.
'Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have
that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding. You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.
SO, to all of my crackpot friends, have a great day and remember to
smell the flowers on your side of the path!

A Place not a Home

My cousins has a friend that she has known for about a Decade and she has recently been left without a home at the age of 17. She has a very crazy family situation, and for the past few weeks has been going house to house never knowing where she will end up that night. She has stayed many nights recently at my Aunts house because my Aunt has a huge heart and would never let anyone she know goes without anything she can provide. My cousins friend was able to move into the dorms at FIU today, and she is so happy there. It made me think about all the wonderful people God has place in my life, that if I ever find myself without a home there will always be a place for me to stay. I have people that will let me sleep on their couch, in their guests rooms, and even their own rooms if something were to come up. I am so grateful to all of you that have gone out of your way to love me, and to remind me that I will always have a place if I don't have a home. You guys rock!!

The Deadliest Obsession

Ok, so some of you know my obsession with the Discovery Channel's series Deadliest Catch. So for those of you that don't know the show please let me inform you of what you are missing. This show follows about 7-10 different crab boats that set sial in the dealiest sea (hence the name), the Bering Sea off the coast of Alaska. They show what these men go through during a season of fishing for huge crab. I love the show because it shows real people having a real life adveture. They work really hard, hardly sleep, eat crazy amounts of food to keep moving, and they get shifted around the iced deck like the disk on a air hockey table.

I have my favorite crew which is the one on the Corneila Marie. I love the father sons relationship. Phil is honestly to me the best skipper, and they are amazing men that no matter what they feel, work their tails off in the coldest weather ever!! I love this ship so much that I logged onto their site to send in my resume to be their cook. Yeah, I know Im crazy. But I really want to help these guys out because they work so hard, and they could use the great food and woman's touch on board. But don't worry, they post that they don't have any job openings, and even if they did they only hire within the family. Sad for me, but great for them.

Well if share my obsession, or want to recule me (IE) feel free to comment me. Don't forget to check out Deadliest Catch on the DIscovery Channel at 11am and 4pm every week day, and click on Corneila Marie to see their offical website. Happy fishing!!

A walk down Memory Lane

Today as Ester the dog and I made are usual morning walk, I reached back in my memory file of the times when I walked down dirt roads by our house in Virginia and had adventures. I would walk through the woods, pick blackberries, and trespassed through property forgotten. I wished I was back there, back in the places where Ester would love because there are so many different things she could bite. I loved walking on the paths less taken, and view senery that the world had hidden away from prying eyes, and yet made beautiful with every detail.

God built me to travel, and I haven't taken one road trip the whole summer. I am deeply bummed, but not despaired. I plan on making the best out of this Fall semester so that next Spring and Summer all I do is have adentures. Watch out Donald Miller, I am following in your tire marks.

Pucca

So I have never heard of this Cartoon Network show called Pucca before i started sitting for the Garcia girls Alex and Angelic. They love this show, and I will admit I am not a big cartoon fan I do like this show. Its premise is that this girl (who can kick Kung Fu butt) is in love with Garu, a nija boy that does not love her back. Pucca is always following Garu, and she normally saves him from trouble.

I will admit that while watching this show for the first time I could almost relate to Pucca. I have a tendance to chase boys, and it always backfires. I can only pray I never looked like Pucca does. But don't worry I don't chase boys any more. I know my Adam will come to me when God decides we are good and ready. To bad I can't share that with poor Pucca. All well... Peace!!

Gas Prices

OK so i know gas prices have looked like this lately...

But this week (for all of those of you that have been under the Sea in an octopus' garden in the shade for the past few days) gases prices went under the $4 mark. Last weekend while driving with my mom i saw it at $4.01. I told her if I saw it go down under $4 I was goingto dance. And then this Wed while driving To FRC Hallendale with IE i saw something like this everywhere...

So when I saw the gas price i did a jig, in which Stacie proceeded to give me a wierded out look. I had to then explain my actions. So make a long story short (too late) I am really, really, really excited that God has heard the cries of this nation and lowered gas prices. Yes, i think God had everything to do with the lower gas prices at the pump!

My iGoogle Theme

Ok, so as weird as this my sound I love my iGoogle homepage Heading theme. Its called Ocean Life and its main character is an underwater Octopus. I love it so much because in a weird way he/she is a reflection of me. In the moring it drinks coffee, in the afternoon its on its laptop, in the evening its listening to its ipod, and at night its reading. I know that might sound like I am describing 3/4 of the American population, but I don't care, I still feel like he/she is a reflection of me on a regular day.

Now all I have to do is name it. So do you guys have any suggestions to my cephalopod friend??

A Good Cause

My Kindred Spirt Brittnee Lynch has been involved with the Table at FRC for sometime now, and she has really inspired me to do the right thing for the homeless. And since she has started volunteering to love on our brothers and sisters that are down on their luck and just need, love and support because they are still human and are equal with those who might have more fortune then they (even though the more fortune look down on the less, even though they are equal in God's eyes); I have read almost every week in my Quite Time about how we should support the homeless, invite strangers to dinner. SO if you want to do the same here is a great way to support the Homeless brothers and sisters in our area.

Here is the latest Hippie Music video. Sheryl Crow is know for her political lyrics, so no surprise that she wrote this Hippie song. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Make sure to notice all the old footage and try to feel the way they used to feel and how similar it is now, but without the peace, love, and hope. This country need a few good Hippies once again.

Summer 08

So since I have been spending my summer at the William's (see John and Jen's profile links to the right ->)I get into a new routine here then I would on a normal summer at my house. The past few Summers have been me by myself remodling my room, cleaning my house, and reading. This summer it has changed dramitcally.

I have picked up some new obsessions.
~Johnathan taught Jen and I how to play Yatzee last week, and the 3 of us have played it like 5 times in less then a week!! I may not be amazing at it, bubt it is so addicting.

~Every summer when I spend time with my cousins at their house they build puzzles, well I took that idea and brought it to the Williams house along with a 10 puzle box set. The whole family contributes, and we use our brains.

~I got the kids hooked on the concept of free books, and movies from the library. We go like 3x's a week, even the 3 year old loves it. I checked out Sleepy Hollow fromthe library this week, now tomorrow Karli and I are going to watch the Tim Burtton version of the movie. I am going to try and convince her read the book after it, but Im not holding my breath. I love to read, so anytime they get roudy I can just say "Ok, everyone go to a quite place a read for an hour, and I get to do something I love, and the children learn to love the written word. Really a win/win situation I think.

Yes, Another C.S. Lewis Quote

"At this very moment you and I are either committing [selfishness], or about to commit it, or repenting it."

So try to think of others in every possible situation, even when almost every angle looks like it should be about you, because face it, this life is NOT ABOUT YOU despite every advertisement on tv.

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Galatians 2:20

But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.
2 Corinthians 12:9

Shopping, Chicken, and Long Lost Friends

today was an awesome day, after coming home from church my mom and I immediately went on a shopping excursion which led to me (spoiled alert) getting, cool new hippie converses, a cute paisley purse, and a Body Victoria Secrets bra. Then my mom and I beat the weather and ate at Stir Crazy, where we ordered two amazingly delicious appetizers (ahi tuna, and crab cakes) and for dessert we had a beautiful mango creme brule.
As you might have noticed I skipped the main course and that is because we had ordered a tofu Pad Thai, but instead we got a chicken Pad Thai. So yes, after 2 years of being a vegetarian, today I ate chicken. Yes I noticed that the tofu was a bit weird, and I caught on after like my 5th bite. I was so mad. We told the server that we didn't order chicken, and he was like I assumed you wanted it. And then proceeded to charge us for it.
But what finished the meal on a high was that as I walking out the door I saw a friend that I had not seen in 5years. A friend that was family, that in high school I was at their house more than my own. I got his new number and his sisters, because his sister was my best friend for 5 years.
I have to say that even though I desecrated my veggietood, today was an awesome day. Yes, I kn ow chickens every where are cursing my name (sorry beakys) but today was a God loved day!!

He is everywhere

My Mom sent me this e-mail last week. I love these hidden picture things. And this one is just beautiful. I love how it portrays as Jesus being in nature watching over us, and if maybe, just maybe, we look for Him in it we can see Him. Can You see Him?

A Personal Revival

So lately I have noticed a depletion in my awareness for God. I feel like I haven't really talked to Him, or stop to feel His presence at all in the past few weeks. So since I don't have to nanny this week, I am fully committing my week to my own personal revival. I have a list of plans to do this week to help rekindle my passion and attention to Christ.

~I borrowed a Don Miller Small Group DVD
*Study the study guide
* Watch the DVD
~Jen Williams let me borrow her Passion 08 CD
* Listening to it while I clean
~Finally finishing Don Miller's "Searching For God Knows What"
~Buying "God on a Harley" because its the book a book study that Nikki Terry is starting for girls at Starbucks in July
~Take long walks with me and my Jesus
~Finally listen to all the podcasts I have downloaded

*FRC pod casts
*Rob Bell
*Louie Giglio
*Don Miller
\
I know God will reveal more ways that He wants to get closer to me, as long as I am faithful to get in touch with Him. So pray that I stay on course, and truly stop to listen when and where God talks to me.

Word of the Day

On my iGoogle I have a couple of what I think are interesting applications (im a geek). One of the applications is Word of the Day and today's word of the day is:

centromere
(noun) The most condensed and constricted region of a chromosome, to which the spindle fiber is attached during mitosis.

Um... when am I going to use this word in a sentence? "Wow there are so many people at the mall today, now I know what a centromere feels like." or "My closet has so many clothes packed into its like a centomere. I think I even see some spindle fiber coming out."

Yeah, no. I might be weird, and say weird things, but I can assure you iGoogle that this is not a word that will be said in my day.

Bring on the Pain, if only to Hear

God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: it is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world. ~ C.S. Lewis

Europe 02

So I was cleaning out my "desk" at home and found my Europe Trip Pics. I went on a European tour back in high school. 5 countries in 10days. It was a lot of fun. Here are a few pics of the gang, I will post a slide show once I figure out how to make a slide show fit for blogger. (tips are welcomed)

Photobucket
This was taken in the airport before we left, and yes those are crutches.

Photobucket
Me, my Mom, Tal's mom, and Tal. Tal became my best friend after this trip, I didn't even know she existed before the trip.

Photobucket
The leader was a French Teacher at our school, and she thought it would be funny if we took a pic with this group of young DRUNK people. It was like 5pm!! Check out the girl who is upside down, why you ask. I don't think she even knows.

Photobucket
This is our group pic. The guy at the bottom was our tour guide Fabio.

Oooohhhh Chihuahua

We went to go see Prince Caspian last week and this was one of the trailers before the movie. You have to watch it I think it a funny trailer... myabe not a great movie, but well worth the 1.30 mins of the trailer.

Tweaking who?!?!

So I am tweaking my blog page. I know I have been known to say "I like the simplicty of my hippie blog." But I think change is good from time to time. I will be tweaking my blog for the next few weeks. Leave a comment here if you like something, dislike something, or know of a way to better my place. Thanks. Peace!!

My Hero

Ok so a lot of cool things happened today: had an awesome day with my Elevate family at Tree Tops playing Frisbee, Football, and hanging out. Heard one of the best sermons Troy has ever given, with awesome worship, and spent a trying hour and a half with 3yrs olds teaching them that "I am wonderfully made."

But the thing that was really cool was that I got to see my real life hero again today on my way home from church at 9pm tonight. There is this older man that looks like he can barely walk, yet he takes a walk like 2-3 times a day. I have even seen him ride his bike around where we live. He lives in my development and one day I got to say the pleasantries like "Hi! How are you?!" He is so nice!

He is my hero because he looks like he should be at home shuffling around his house doing nothing. But no, he does not let age get in his way from doing anything. He reminds me that just because it hurts to move doesn't mean you can't walk 2 miles. Just because old age has kicked in doesn't mean you can't have any more adventures. Nothing is impossible with determination, will power, and the strength of God behind you. I know this man I proud to be able to walk, to feel the sun on his face, the breeze, and to feel every muscle in his body. This man inspires me to be a women of faith, and warrior for God at every age that God has me to be on this earth.

Bells in the Air

No large brass bells the size of VW Beetles are falling from the sky, tomorrow my long time friend Mo Tinoco and short time friend Stephanie Sanchez are having their Civil Ceremony at the Hallendale Campus. Mo and Stephanie are having a Pirate themed wedding, they are even going as far as Colombia to get married in the Caribbean!! I am so excited for tomorrow, because this is as close to Colombia that I will get. I wish them both all the happiness in the world because they are two of the most genuinely loving, caring, funny, and Christ loving people I have ever met. I love you both and I can't wait to party in your new appartment when you guys get back and you have unpacked all your new gifts!! God Bless!!

A Need and A Deed

So the other day I walked out to my mail box and inside was a little yellow flyer. I like to read my junk mail because you never know what might be useful. This little paper was a announcement that Silver Trail Middle school (the middle school I went to) Was having a fund raiser Garage Sale May 12th to raise money for research for Histiocytosis...

When I was two years old I was diagnosed with Histiocytosis X. One of the rarest genetic disease in America. It was so rare that there was little to no information on it at all. No one had done any real research on it because it was so rare. They treated it like cancer, and if it went away with chemo treatments great, if not sorry there was no other ideas.

Histiocytosis X is 10 rare diseases rolled into one name because they are so rare that they don't get individual names. I learned recently, within the past 5 years, that it is a blood disease that forms hard masses in you blood stream in long arteries. If one of the masses block your heart, lungs, or brain you were out of luck. They have no idea where it comes from, how it starts, and how to really treat it.

Chemo worked for me, and now I am in full recovery with the slimest chance for it to come back. And know I know its my turn to help others who are suffering from the same disease. Ever since I was little I wanted to do something to help fund research, now I can by supporting Silver Trail in their efforts for research funding. Please help them by showing up next Saturday and buying one item. I know that there are a few people that read my blog, and everyONE counts.

Please help because IT Matters to me.

Friends and the Laughter

No joke I love my friends.
They love to make fun of me.
Even if its in front of half the staff on the internet.
I am happy that is was after I left, and they used nicknames.

Thanks Mo for e-mailing me the proof that some jokes don't ever die.
I am not being sarcastic if anyone out there doesn't know the joke.
I have never been the source of a untrue rumor that turned into a joke, so thanks guys.
I want you to know that I am having a lot of fun, and you guys make me laugh every time the joke goes to the next level.
Who knows by next month we will be making fake arrangements for my fake wedding and putting announcements in the local paper.

Morals and Veggies

I have been a Vegetarian now for over a year. And just about everyone (except maybe a hand full of people) that has talked to me for more than five min. after finding out has to ask me why, but they don't stop there. They ask me really ridiculous questions about whats wrong with meat, and why not try doing this instead...

What most people fail to see is that being a Vegetarian is not just a decision, not just a lifestyle, but a moral belief.

I grew up eating meat, and taking stand here and there what I would eat and I wouldn't like veal, and pate because of the obvious ways of harnessing these delicacies. But I am not against eating meat, I do eat meat, but I stand for the treatment of animals while they are still apart of this earth we all call home. God created the animals and gave man dominion over them, but I don't think that God had in mind that one day man would decided to abuse animals for mass production.

I am not trying to sell you being a Vegetarian, but I am trying to let you know that I am not wrong in MY beliefs. I don't ask you after finding out your Jewish "If you were locked in a room with a Christian, Buddhist, and a Atheist and they told you that you had to convert to one of their religions if you wanted to leave the room, and if you don't convert they kill you." I don't ask you if your gay "Well have you tried being straight?? That the opposite sex is so much more fun than the same sex, you are missing out on so much fun."

Then why am I constantly being paraded with questions and statements to make me feel stupid and like I am wrong?? I have a right to love, respect, and honor MY feelings. I don't try and push you to be a vegetarian, why are you pushing me to eat hormone induced meat??

God gave me a heart for all animals intrinsically. I am sorry that you don't feel the same, but I am not sorry that I feel the way I do. So next time you have the urge to questions someone's beliefs, think about where your heart is when your words come out.

Women are an awesome specimen for God's Glory.

This week I have been a witness and a participant for the Glory of God through women power.

Last weekend Heather Palacios gave a sermon at Flamingo Road Church on the importance of doing things today that blew me away, and several others around the world. Then a group of women who were moved and inspired by her on staff at FRC threw a surprise party in honor the amazing work God had done through her that weekend. She was so surprised and touched that she was loved and appreciated not only by God for being His tool, but by her fellow peers.

Last night I had the honor of being the day of wedding coordinator for a friend that I hold dear to my heart as a role model of a beautiful woman with extraordinary faith, love, and strength (among other traits). While waiting for her cue to start her walk down the aisle and while listing to worship music, amongst all the hustle a bustle that was going on around her, she stopped and sang worship to her God. She was standing there in her wedding dress, about to be married, and she stood there with her hands raised, her eyes closed, and worshiping the God who has blessed her with a wonderful life because of her faith and obedience.

These women are the perfect picture of the woman I want to be in Christ, a tool for God to use to bless others. God is amazing on His own, He in no way needs us, but because He loves us He honors and blesses us as tools in His plans for His earth. God is awesome and woman, created for His own devices, is an awesome specimen of Faith, Love, Hope, Strength, Perseverance, and Wonder of what God has planed for us on earth.

I'm a Sappy Chick

Ok, so I am not ashamed to admit it. I love sappy Love Stories. My favorite movie of all time, Ever After, favorite story of all time, Pride and Prejudiced. No matter how many times I see Ever After, or read/watch Pride and Prejudice I still am moved. I know I am only setting myself to fall when love knocks on my front door but I can't see it because I have a sappy romance in my view. But who said that my Adam can't be my Mr Darcy too?? I know God made my Adam perfect for me and vice versa, so I know that my Adam will be as sappy as me, or at least the male version of me of my sappyness. So know what, I will continue to go weak in the knees every time I think of Danielle Debarack and Utopia with her Prince. And I will always cry a little when I think of Mr. Darcy's determined love for a women who hated him more than anyone else on earth, only to turn around and love him just as much back. So deal with it!!!

P.S. if you have not seen these movies and you are a girl you need to watch them to really learn how to feel loved.
if you are a boy and have never seen these movies watch them to learn how to really love a woman, and to understand her. i always say that Pride and Prejudice is the secret to every womans heart.
