Best Day Ever!!

Yesterday I had the best day in Jungle since I have been working at Disney. I started work at 5:45pm and worked until 1:45am and I didn't have high prospects for the evening. The thing that made it the best night ever was that 2 children gave me a hug, children that were so happy to be at Disney that they wanted just to give out hugs. I also had the world best boat (minus one guy that was the grumpiest person I have ever seen on the Jungle Cruise), they got on in the exit because they had a family member in the wheel chair line. When the family got in 2 of the men crossed over the crates, which is a big No, No on the boats, so i told them one after the other not to cross the crates because it was a fired hazard "If you trip and fall, I laugh..hahaha.. and then I get fired." But one of the guys stopped me right before I said "I get fired" and asked "what we cross the crates and then burst into flames?" I told him if he would just hold on he would here the point of my joke. Well when we went to pick up more guests waiting in the standby line more people crossed the crates, and we had to tell them not to, and blamed their bad behavior on the 1st 2 gentlemen. We laughed and cried a bunch of the times through out the ride at non-funny jokes, and I couldn't get out half of my spiel because I was laugh at them so hard, especially when we got to the Natives show scene and the guy closest to me yelled "Don't hit the ducks!!" I laughed so hard I missed the 1st 2 jokes. So I had to say "Yeah we missed about 3 jokes back there, just know these guys are bad and they attack on the right." Then as I 'pointed out' my favorite plants the family told me that they are my favorite plants because their last name is Plant. So I reassured them sincerely that they were my favorite Plants ever. Then we laughed and cried a little more waiting to unload. Then we had to say the "crates are a fired hazard" joke again. When we had to tie a rope to the back of the boat to let people off I told everyone to stay seated, but a girl in the back stood up. and I said "you guys really are going to get me fired!!" So when everyone was off the boat another skipper came on my boat to relive me and I followed the Plants to the exit and they said "We really did get you fired huh?" and I looked around and my cool coordinator was standing there, and my response was "Thanks, right in front of my coordinator!!" and then we took a group photo, and one of their children hugged me because I said lets all hug and take a picture together!! so thats really 3 hugs in one day!!

Yeah I pretty much love my life!!

TGR still lives!!

Ok today was a lazy day for me. I got up watched 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, did laundry, and went to class. But it was an awesome day because my Professor asked "Has anyone had to do something BIG with a little bit of money?" Well my hand shot up thinking about how BIG thegiftrevolution.com was and how we were on such a small budget. God did so many amazing things on that trip, and most of them cost little to no money. So I told her all about my part of the Revolution and what it stands for. She was so excited about the idea that she wrote the website on the board, and after class I told her I would give her a card because she was so excited to learn more about it. I feel so invigorated by today, because after we stop promoting the Revolution I didn't want it to stop, I didn't want to stop. Today has inspired me to keep paying the Revolution forward. I still have a stack of cards and 3 1/2 months left here, I think I will change Orlando, a second time!!!

Day 3 in the Jungle

Well today it will be day 3 that I will be in the Jungle with out my trainer. Its been a blast!! Training was a lot of fun. I had an amazing trainer who is very passionate about the Jungle, it was always his dream to work at Disney and become a Jungle Skipper. Her has 3 different characters he has made up that he performs for guests. I also enjoyed training with the other CPs. I have even gone to one of the parks with one them. I am enjoying working and living here in Disney (what a shock I know). I miss you all back home, but I know my place is here and now. I am learning so much, and getting to know so many amazing people. Almost everyone I have met so far has been really friendly and helpful, its been really weird, don't get me wrong I love it. I just didn't expect people to be so open to conversation on buses, or hallways, and just about everywhere about anything all the time. I love it. Well its time to shower and get ready to head back into the Jungle, see ya around!!

Random Facts about the Jungle Cruise

Ok so this is pretty much a Blog of SPOILERS, it doesn't really kill the Disney magic.... well not all of them any ways. This is mostly a bunch of fun facts that you might not have known, because I didn't until recently.

  • Disney World's Jungle Cruise's Spiel is 20 pgs long while Disneyland California is 90 pgs, but Disney World's attraction is longer
  • The deepest part of the river is 6ft deep at the Hippo pool.
  • There are 2 hidden Mickeys, 1 hidden Goofy, 1 hidden Donald, and 1 hidden Minnie in the attraction. One Mickey is on the crashed airplane, the hidden Donald, Goofy, and Mickey are together as the heads of the boats for the Canoes at the Pigmy Party. The hidden Minnie is the hardest to see, its at the exit of the Temple on the second to last pillar on your left carved into the stone.
  • The front half of the wrecked plane is in Disney's Hollywood Studios in the Great Movie Ride as the plane in Casablanca.
  • Every time a skipper leaves (on good terms) its tradition to leave your boots behind. They can be seen all over the attraction, including the Managers Office in the queue, the Campsite, and Safari's totem pole.
  • The boat ride is 10 mins long or 2,ooo ft long, which ever comes last.
Well thats all the trivia I have for you now. See you all real soon!!

Costumes

Hey guys i know I haven't really been blogging about my CP (College Program) all that much. Soooooo much has happened.

I have been studying and learning everything there is to know about being a Jungle Cruise Skipper, and its a lot. I was able to start driving the boat 3 days ago now, and I spoke live in front of an audience yesterday, twice!!! I was that nervous, and I think I did a pretty good job for my first time. My trainer was proud of the 3 of us he trained.

Here are some pictures of the costumes I have been in since I have been here....

These are pics of my costume when I helped out with the Celebration Parade.

And Yes Ladies and Gentlemen is my Skipper's Costume. THis is the costume I am in everyday. This costume, when its cold out like now, consists of a white turtle neck, shirt, tights (my adding because, well because), pants, jacket w/ lining, water bottle w/ clip to clip on my pants, skippers hat, name tag, and watch. Yeah you try remembering all of that at 5:30 in the morning.

Its been ruff, but fun, so fun. Tomorrow is my first day off, and technically my first day as a real Skipper. Today is my last day of training, and my Assessment.

Well thats all for mow. bye guys, and Have a Magical Day.
